How Jewelry is Made

The Craft Behind Every Piece

Every piece of jewelry begins as a vision—an idea carefully developed through creativity, precision, and time-honored craftsmanship. At Twin's Jewelry, we use artisanal methods passed down through generations to create gold and silver pieces that carry meaning and quality.

1. The Design Process

Jewelry begins as a hand-drawn sketch or digital concept. This stage allows us to explore proportion, detail, and how the piece will rest when worn. Designers consider the type of metal, stone settings, and purpose of the jewelry (e.g. everyday wear vs. formal occasion).

2. Wax Modeling

Once the design is approved, a wax model is carved or 3D printed. This model is an exact replica of the final piece, serving as the mold prototype. Any design flaws are corrected here before moving forward.

3. Investment Casting

The wax model is encased in a special plaster called investment. Once the plaster hardens, the wax is melted away, leaving a hollow cavity. Molten gold or silver is poured into the mold, creating the solid metal version of the piece. This is known as the "lost wax casting" method—a traditional and precise process still used today.

4. Cleaning and Polishing

After casting, the piece is rough and unfinished. It goes through several stages of cleaning, filing, and polishing to smooth the surface and bring out the metal's natural shine. Sharp edges are softened, and textures are carefully refined.

5. Stone Setting (if applicable)

If the piece includes gemstones, they are hand-set by experienced jewelers. This can involve prong setting, bezel setting, or pave techniques—each chosen based on the stone type and desired look.

6. Final Finishing & Quality Check

The jewelry is polished again for a final luster. Some pieces receive special finishes like matte brushing, antiquing, or rhodium plating. Every item undergoes a quality inspection to ensure craftsmanship meets our high standards.

A Piece Worth Wearing

From a simple sketch to the final polish, each step reflects a commitment to detail and tradition. Our handcrafted jewelry carries not only precious materials—but generations of expertise, pride, and artistry.
